How to Insert Custom Character Art Into Rpg Maker Mv
- #1
Now that I've had some fourth dimension to tinker with RMMV (awesome so far btw ) I am curious as to how adding custom content to the graphic symbol Generator works. I encounter a lot of files, and I've added in some of my own files to the generator folders, but they don't seem to be showing up in the character generator.
EDIT:I figured out how to get my own in there by following the naming conventions of the other files within the generator folder, incremented by 1. But I estimate I'd just like to know the significance of the naming convention so that I can know, for example, how to share my custom generator stuff with other people and not take a chance over-writing ones created by other people that they have in their folders already.

Looking forward to seeing back up for this. There are quite a few lacking models... specially when it comes to face types. I just at present had to resort to using the female face models to make a faceset for a male character because male face types were entirely too... manly.
Still a HUUUUUUUUGE comeback over VX Ace'southward generator though.

I'd like more details, because that didn't seem to work for me. I copied a female face from the generator folder, changed the number from iii to 4, and pasted the "#iv face" into both the Female person and Male person folders, and the new faces didn't show up.

hmm.. I did it with hair, so I'yard not certain how the faces piece of work even so, but I'll requite it a go and get dorsum to you.
EDIT:Ok, not sure which folder(due south) you did this in, simply you have to do it in more 1, merely like the hairs. For the hairs, there's something you lot have to rename/paste in all the generator folders to brand 1 new hairstyle, and for faces yous demand to alter ii. In the Variation folder, copy the face up you want from female to male and change the 3 to 4, and so in the "Confront" folder, notice and do the aforementioned again. Should be named "FG_Face_p03_c1_m001". Change the three at that place to a 4, BUT Null ELSE. (and so change information technology to "FG_Face_p04_c1_m001"). By doing that, I got it to work.

Its very hard to brand a evil looking female or older person, the facial marks are really poor and nothing like the scars/tattoos of VX, thats my main frustration so far.
Definitely looking forward to some more options from the community.

For everyone's future reference, the following files volition be needed

- Face up graphics, upwardly to 5 layer / 5 images
- walking sprite (image / mask) two images
- Down sprite (image / mask) two images
- Fighting sprite (image/mask) 2 images

For anybody's hereafter reference, the post-obit files will be needed
- ane UI icon
- Confront graphics, up to 5 layer / 5 images
- walking sprite (image / mask) ii images
- Down sprite (epitome / mask) two images
- Fighting sprite (image/mask) ii images
Thanks for the heads up. Merely just to make sure, if we were to share/use other peoples custom generator stuff, we would have to brand sure to add them all in personally, making sure to alter the names appropriately? Seems a bit inefficient, but I'grand glad it's at least doable. Perhaps in the future someone more crawly than me volition make a programme to car-name/place files based on your existing content.

As a proceeding on this, I tried to create a new mouth to Female person faces, simply by copying male mouth FG_Mouth_p06_c1_m001.png to Female person, as it seemed the near appropriate for my existing grapheme as the default female faces are a bit besides much kawaii for my grapheme
E.g. cp Male person/FG_Mouth_p06_c1_m001.png Female/FG_Mouth_p11_c1_m001.png
Only it does non appear on CC. I restart CC and restart the tool. Does it cache these on somewhere or should I practice something else too ?
Then I copied my rima oris over to an existing rima oris :
mv FG_Mouth_p04_c1_m001.png FG_Mouth_p04_c1_m001_orig.png
cp FG_Mouth_p11_c1_m001.png FG_Mouth_p04_c1_m001.png
Now the new mouth does appear on Preview chararacter when I click the fourth item, but its not on the Variation window ?? So workaround (=hack) works, merely is a bit disruptive to utilise.

Did y'all add an additional file inside Variation to brand information technology selectable?

No I didnt. That was information technology, cheers wery much! At present the facial features work
Ok then the figure on the preview is the composition of the of sprites of face shape, mouth etc and export then exports it to game. Am I correct ?
Shall I and then just replace that exported i on the atlas at project name/img/faces/Thespian* etc ?

Seeing this, and the take chances of overwriting new content... maybe the best fashion would be to create a compilation of custom content? Maybe an unofficial pack to continue an standard? It's but an idea

I'm shortly working to build a set up of tutorials around the file format, naming convention and adding layers. I remember I accept an understanding around the p## c## and m### values that I'll be working on today.

I am looking foward for removing default ears and replacing with animal ears ^^

For the tape, the following works with some explanations :
To change a Character Generator to support a new custom face, for case replacing female mouth #iv on the face on mac (steam version) do :
1.
cd ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/mutual/RPG Maker MV/RPG Maker MV.app/Contents/MacOS/Generator/Face/Female
ii. Faces are made of sprite components similar hair, rima oris, ears then on. You can create a custom oral cavity by replacing the mouth epitome for the sprite and so the corresponding selector. First backup the original :
mv FG_Mouth_p04_c1_m001.png FG_Mouth_p04_c1_001_orig.png
3. In addition to actual mouth sprite, you have to provide the Variation (thats the rima oris sprite shape on editor having shadow of all else but the mouth on the superlative heart at CC editor) then yous can see what y'all select :
cd ~/Library/Awarding Support/Steam/steamapps/common/RPG Maker MV/RPG Maker MV.app/Contents/MacOS/Generator/Variation/Female/
mv icon_Mouth_p04.png icon_Mouth_p04_orig.png
4. Open up your favourite pixel editor (mine is Pixen) and modify your files. Please notation that Pixen cannot relieve nether the MV path, as it cannot see inside app's to re-create the new elements and then you need to utilise the vanquish :
cp yourMouthSprite.png ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/RPG Maker MV/RPG Maker MV.app/Contents/MacOS/Generator/Face/Female person/FG_Mouth_p04_c1_m001.png
cp yourIcon.png ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/mutual/RPG Maker MV/RPG Maker MV.app/Contents/MacOS/Generator/Variation/Female person/icon_Mouth_p04.png
5. Quit CC and re-select it from MV menu. Your sprite now appears on the CC and you can generate your favourite char with new mouth.

Sorry I must be dumb or something crusade I still don't go it. I think I'm doing what needs to be done but the wings all the same don't show up. I really wanted to make sure the wings looked good on the sprites earlier I uploaded them every bit resources but I can't fifty-fifty get them to evidence.
